Royle Safaris is at the forefront of mammal watching holidays and along with the single mammal focused trips such as Iberian Lynx, Tigers, Blue Whales etc and the more general mammal watching holidays visiting places such as Yellowstone National Park, the Brazilian Pantanal or eastern Africa we have a separate category of mammal watching tours which focus on some of the world’s rarest and often thought of as impossible to see.

We are constantly looking to add to this category of trip, we are always speaking to our network of local guides and researchers and then finding ways of making new trips to try and see a new species that was previously thought of as impossible. We have pioneered trips to Javan Rhinos, Giant Pandas, Amur Leopards, Giant Armadillos, Siberian Tigers, Grey-shanked Doucs, Giant Pangolin, Northern Babirusa and many more. Of course as part of these trips we have great chances to see various other mammals and other animals too. All of these trips have taken many years to develop, with many recce trips made and many failed attempts until we feel we have come up with the technique, location and local guides capable of having more success than not.

Sometimes we are so successful at developing these tours that the animal in question is no longer regarded as difficult to see; which is great news for people wanting to see them and also for the species as by this stage the global awareness has been highlighted so much that its conservation has increased as a result. Trips we pioneered a long time ago and are now seen as ‘normal’ mammal watching tours include Snow Leopards in Ladakh, Jaguars of the Pantanal and Wolverines in Finland.
