Our wildlife holidays, wildlife tours and safaris of Sri Lanka are listed below:

Home of the mythical King Ravana of ancient Hinduism; a resting place of Siddhartha Guatama the first Buddha and with a Christian population descended from the Apostle Thomas whatever your religion, background or culture Sri Lanka has enough charm and history to make anyone gasp in awe. But it is not the human history which is the main reason we run safaris here; it is of course the stunning wildlife. Sri Lanka harbours populations of animals which are rarer and nearly extinct in neighbouring India like Asiatic elephants and water buffalo. Along with these animals which are more common in Sri Lanka there is a distinct absence of the tiger, this has lead to the leopard (so often playing second fiddle to lions and tigers throughout its range) becoming the top predator here. But in addition to the terrestrial wildlife (which is second to none), we are now realising the best place in the world for blue whales is off the south and east coasts of this remarkable island.

On our wildlife tours and wildlife holidays here we try to explore as much of the island as possible and we have a good mix of jeep safaris through the large parks Willapattu and Yala National Parks; here the mega fauna is exceptional and rivals any parks in India and most in Africa, elephants, buffalo, deer, crocodiles, leopards, sloth bears, peafowl, hornbills, kingfishers, storks and vultures to name but a few animals which are regularly seen. We also drive through the hill country and the tea estates which dominant the landscape since the British colonised the island 100-200 years ago, as well as the jeep safaris and of course whale watching to find the largest animal ever we have time to explore the Sinharaja Forest Reserve which is one of the most exciting places in all of Sri Lanka for birds, reptiles, amphibians, monkeys and other forest dwelling animals.

So join us on one of our wildlife holidays to Sri Lanka and you will be the envy of other wildlife enthusiasts as you come back with great pictures of blue whales, leopards and don’t forget Sri Lanka’s national bird the Sri Lankan jungle fowl!

All these tours are available on other dates (subject to availability) than the dates listed. Please contact us to arrange a tour on a date which suits you.

Fact of the Day

Pythons can slow their metabolism down so much that their non-essential organs (liver, kidneys and stomach) shrivel up to next to nothing when they are not feeding. Once they catch some prey their metabolism increases around 40 times the and they re-grow their organs
