Our wildlife holidays, wildlife tours and safaris of Rwanda are listed below:
Rwanda is world famous in the wildlife watching community, the most iconic country in the world to see Mountain Gorillas. A place made famous by Dian Fossey, and the movie ‘Gorillas in the Mist’ the country has recovered well from the atrocities of the mid 1990’s and is now teeming with wildlife; surrounded by natural scenery unique in Africa which includes lush, misty mountains cut across the landscape while gorillas and golden monkeys dwell in the forests.
Known as the best place to see mountain gorillas in their natural environment, Rwanda regularly features on ‘must-visit’ wildlife destination lists published by myriad of travel books and websites around the world. Whilst some of the treks can take a few hours and it can be tough going, the thrill of spending time among these amazing animals can be nothing short of life-changing! But there is much more than just the gorillas in Rwanda.
Rwanda’s tropical rainforested hills and lush lowland grasslands offer a wide variety of wildlife watching from chimpanzees and various other primates and more typical African safari wildlife.
Rwanda is known as the ‘land of thousand hills’ due to its terrain of mountains and volcanoes, the landscape is very scenic and the remaining forests are home to around half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. These gorillas have become particularly famous thanks to Dian Fossey and her pioneering studies of their behaviour.
Often the main reason visitors come to Rwanda, the endangered mountain gorilla can be reliably seen and tops an impressive list of over a dozen primates including chimpanzee, golden monkey, colobus monkey and bush baby, making Rwanda one of Africa’s prime primate hotspots.
Our Rwanda Primate Watching Tours always include time with the wonderful and iconic mountain gorillas, but we also combine this with time spent to find golden monkeys, chimpanzees, blue monkeys, colobus, owl-faced monkeys and many more primate species. Rwanda is without a question one of the best primate watching holiday locations in the world.
So if you are interested in primates and rare wildlife, or just the majestic mountain gorilla you will have to join one of our wildlife tours to Rwanda and see some of our closest relatives in the world in the wild!
All these tours are available on other dates (subject to availability) than the dates listed. Please contact us to arrange a tour on a date which suits you.
