When people think of Nepal they think of Mount Everest and the other great peaks in the Himalayas and whilst these are undoubtedly highlights of this slip of country; there is a slither of land in the south, bordering India, which is covered in thick forest with a tropical climate. It is this region which is the main focus for our current tour to Nepal. However we do have plans to increase the number of tours we run to Nepal to include trekking in the Himalayas in search of the elusive snow leopard and other high altitude animals. But for now our tours of Chitwan national park offer excellent ways of exploring the sal forests whilst keeping an eye out for tigers, leopards, one-horned rhinos, wild boar, sloth bears and other large mammals. We also highlight various reptile species here like the large king cobra and Indian rock python and the extremely endangered gharial.

Chitwan the oldest and most popular national park in all of Nepal and one which offers amazing chances of seeing one-horned rhinos at close hand. These can be encountered either from a canoe, elephant, jeep or even whilst walking around the jungle. On our tours here our local guides allow us to get as close as possible to the wildlife whilst remaining safe. We spend more time inside the national park than other tour providers and almost guarantee rhino sightings.

Along with the visits into Chitwan national park we have ample time to explore the surrounding areas which include traditional Tharo villages, great birding around the paddy fields and even the chance to get wet and wild with bathing elephants as the mahouts bring them to the nearby river for their daily bath. Getting hosed down by a huge Asiatic elephant before settling down for a refreshing lassi as the red sun sets over the jungle ahead of you is a truly unforgettable experience so why not join us now on our tours to Nepal?
